Making Crepe-Paper Flowers
Crepe-Paper Flowers are so beautiful and long-lasting! They outlive anything that is grown in a pot or in nature. They are wilt free and irresistible plus they are very easy to make. You can involve the whole family with this amazing crepe-paper flower craft.
There are several methods you can use to make these wonderful crepe-paper flowers, however, we will stick to the single-petal method for this project.

Giant Crepe-Paper Rose Making Methods
- Single-Petal Method – build the flower petal-by-petal.
- Continuous-Petal Method – make a single strip of petals and wind them around the stem.
- Padded Circle Method – make a series of petals in a circle then fold them upward to make a flower.
- Accordion Method – make an accordion out of your paper and tie it in the center. To make the petals you fold up the ends and spread them out.
- Rolled Method – roll up your cut shapes into a “mat” and tie the center tightly. Spread out the petals and stamen from the center tie.

Crepe-Paper Rose Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1 – Download and print the templates from my resource library.
Step 2 – Cut out the templates. There are 4 templates for this project, two for the rose petals, one for the calyx, and one for the leaves.
Step 3 – Cut 5 of the small petals and 15 of the heart-shaped petals from the crepe paper – you can use any color you wish, I decided to use pink for my petals (I used an entire package of the pink crepe-paper!.
Step 4 – Cut 1 Calyx and 3 Leaves from green crepe paper.
Step 5 – Make a stem by wrapping 5 strands of floral wires together with floral tape. I did this by measuring approximately 15″ of wire and bending it until I had 4 lengths together forming the 15″. Next, I continued using the fifth wire and twisting it around the 4 lengths for the full 15″. I then wrapped the stem with the floral tape.
Step 6 – Curl the petals by wrapping them around your pencil – do this for all the small and large petal shapes.
Step 7 – Start building the rose by using the small petals first. Wrap them around the stem (around 2″ down the stem) and taping them in place with floral tape.
Step 8 – Now wrap the 15 large petals around the outside of the small petals. Wrap them tightly, one at a time. Once you have them all in place, wrap the bottom of the petals and the stem together with floral tape.
Step 9 – Add the calyx by wrapping it around the stem, close to the bottom of the petals. When you have it tightly wound in place, secure it with floral tape then glue the “arms” to the bottom of the outside petals to secure it in place.
Step 10 – Fold each leaf in half and open it up again. Cut a length of floral wire to fit from the top to the bottom of each leaf. Glue the wire into the center of each leaf.
Step 11 – Attach the leaves to the stem with floral tape.
Step 12 – For a final look, wrap the stem with the green crepe paper and glue it in place.
Step 13 – Spread out some of the petals to look like a rose and bend the stem so it looks natural.
Step 14 – Display your giant rose! Wow, this is an amazing project and the results are astounding!

I made this one as well. I was not as pleased with the results as I found that streamers are often far too thin to work with. If you have thicker crepe streamers it may be better.
Last Word
This Giant Crepe-Paper Rose did not take long at all! I am so happy with how mine turned out. I did not come across any issues doing this make although I did get glue all over my hands when attaching the green crepe-paper to the stem. This is one beautiful project, I can hardly wait to make another!!!
