Collage Takes on Many Forms
Collage is not just a collection of tear outs from magazines and books pasted onto a vision board. It is not just a series of images from one genre glued together to form a statement. Collage is far beyond what you would normally think.
Although collage is a simple art form when you first start out, it can evolve into some amazing, complex, and thought provoking images. Take a look at the steampunk clock image at the top of this post. This is a collection of gears and time pieces put together into the steampunk motif.

What Materials Do You Need?
As with any owrk of art, and in particular collage, the materials you put together will be personal in nature. In the image above the materials were gathered from the beach and then woven into an art display.
For your first collage, you should use images from magazines or print out digital images (from various sources including Pinterest, Pixabay, Pexels, etc.) /before collecting images, think about what theme you wish to have for your art project. Once again inspiration comes from all around you – I love Pinterest for getting some great ideas,
With ideas in hand and images all ready to go, all you will need is a surface such as poster board or a large piece of paper (you can use kraft paper as a starter). The image below should inspire you to use collage to create a picture.
